Artist Profile
PETER SMALES
Born in
London in 1958 Peter began painting in his
early teens and has been painting full time
since 1987. He lectured in painting and
drawing at Melbourne University from 1986 to
1988. He currently holds classes at the
Victorian Artists Society and
Doncaster-Templestowe Artists Society as
well as from home. He is a member of the
Twenty Melbourne Painters Society.
Drawing from
his inspiration from nature, his paintings
are principally known for their rich
colours, captured moods and impressionistic
effects.
He studied
with Alan Martin, Ron Crawford and Sir
William Dargie and has won numerous awards
including the Norwich Award ( Camberwell
Rotary Art Show ) 1992,1994 and 1995,
Inaugural Streeton “ Longacres” Award 1999,
Kew and Box Hill Rotary and Mount Waverly
and Mildura Art Show Awards.
He is
represented in private and corporate
collections in Australia, England, America,
Japan and Europe.
